The Retired, State, County and Municipal Employees Association of Massachusetts announced its unanimous endorsement of Steve Kerrigan for lieutenant governor, noting that the former longtime aide to Sen. Ted Kennedy is the right person to help lead Massachusetts forward.
The endorsement comes on the heels of Kerrigan’s victory at the Massachusetts Democratic State Convention in June. The former Lancaster selectman won the most support among the four candidates for lieutenant governor.

“We feel strongly that Steve is not only the right person to help lead Massachusetts forward, but that he will do so while being mindful of our retired public employees,” said Frank Valeri, president of the Mass Retirees. “As a selectman and through his work with Senator Kennedy, Steve understands the importance of public service as well as the sacrifices and commitment made by public employees.
“Like Senator Kennedy and Steve, our members served out of a desire to help better the lives of others. Steve also has an understanding that sometimes it is the little things in people’s lives that often make the most profound difference. We need a receptive listener working with the next governor. With Steve Kerrigan we have someone who gets it.”
“I’m so honored to have the support of the 55,000 members of the Mass Retirees,” Kerrigan said. “I have dedicated my life to public service like the retired state, county and municipal employees represented by the Mass Retirees and I will continue to work to make sure that they will have a voice when I’m lieutenant governor. I’m so grateful to have the Mass Retirees as my partner and I look forward to working with them.”
