As a Mass Retirees Association member, you know that the work we do on behalf of all retired Massachusetts public employees is critical to maintaining secure reliable retirement benefits. An important part of our ongoing success as an Association continues to be a strong well-financed political action committee (PAC).

If you have not yet donated to the Retired Public Employees PAC in 2026, we’re writing to ask that you please consider doing so today.

When we kicked off our 2026 PAC Drive in March, little did we know just how successful 2026 would be from a legislative standpoint. As you read in the September edition of The Voice, the landmark COLA Reform law and increase in post-retirement work earnings limits are great victories for public retirees – as was last year’s passage of the Social Security Fairness Act.

Our Association is successful because of the strength of our membership. That strength includes a well-funded political action committee.

It is important that we continue the positive momentum through the remainder of this year and into 2027. While we have much to celebrate on the legislative front, we remain very concerned when it comes to retiree health insurance benefits.

Not only have sharply rising healthcare costs created an affordability crisis for retirees, but the high cost of healthcare combined with tightening government budgets threaten plan design and lead to cost shifting.

We know that forcing retirees to pay more, while degrading the quality of insurance benefits is not the solution! We are not only doing all we can to protect your right to high quality and affordable health insurance, but we are also directly engaged in the ongoing debate over how to gain control over and reduce healthcare costs.

We know that the medical and biotech industries will spend whatever it takes to protect their bottom lines. To properly defend your benefits and work to effect positive change we must have the necessary financial resources.

This is where our Public Retirees PAC really helps. It reinforces the work being done by our Association, while also supporting those candidates for public office who stand with retired public employees.

While donations to the PAC are voluntary, we hope you will consider donating. Please look to the chart on the back of this letter for suggested donation amounts based on your pension amount. However, every little bit helps us tremendously – so give what you can.

Thank you for being a member of Mass Retirees, as well as for your consideration.

Don’t forget that your decision to make a PAC contribution is totally voluntary. Whether you contribute or not, you remain, in our eyes, a loyal Association member who we are here to serve.
