The Retired Public Employees PAC is a Massachusetts political action committee and can only be used to support the political activities of Mass Retirees in Massachusetts. In practice, this means that the funds CANNOT be used to support candidates for federal office (such as Congress, US Senate or the Presidency) or policy debates in Washington.

What you also should know is that the PAC is absolutely essential to the success of our Association. In addition to supporting candidates for state and local offices here in Massachusetts who have a record of supporting public retirees, the PAC also helps to promote and reinforce the specific issues of direct importance to our Association.

The recent passage of the Social Security Fairness Act is proof of what can be accomplished through perseverance and by sticking together. Make no mistake, the repeal of WEP/GPO was achieved by political advocacy – advocacy that was promoted and funded in part by the Retired Public Retirees PAC over the course of many years.

Passage of this law marks a life changing event for many retirees who were harmed by WEP/GPO. We are thrilled that so many members have reported having received their retroactive payments from Social Security.

As you know, our Association is strictly focused on the issues directly related to public retirees. Since our founding in 1968, we have never diverted from our mission to protect and better the lives of retired Massachusetts public employees. Our agenda is simple and transparent – to better the lives of our members, including providing peace-of-mind that your retirement is secure.

Our success depends on both a strong and engaged membership, as well as having the financial resources required to win this fight. We’ve had great success this year on several issues here in Massachusetts, with the establishment of the COLA Commission at the top of the list. Now is the time for us to prepare for what we know is coming next!

Don’t forget that your decision to make a PAC contribution is totally voluntary. Whether you contribute or not, you remain, in our eyes, a loyal Association member who we are here to serve. That is also true when it comes to the amount of your contribution, with the following guidelines being offered simply as a suggestion, and nothing more:

Annual PensionContribution
Under $20,000$10.00 to $15.00
$20,000 to $30,000$20.00 to $25.00
Over $30,000$25.00 and above

In order to comply with Massachusetts campaign finance law, we ask that donors please include their name, address and employer (if any) when making a PAC contribution.
